Happy Pioneer Day!

Every year Ben's Aunt and Uncle have a July 24th pool party for the whole Smith family. Like every year, the kids had such a great time. Luke and Abigail hanging out on the steps with Grandma Sharla. It took them a little while to decide that being in the pool was more fun than watching.
After a good nap, we went to my parent's house for a BBQ and fireworks. I was startled and screamed duing one of the explosions, and Luke said, "Don't freak out Mommy!"
After every blast Abigial ran to Papa Jay to be consoled.

Impressed

I almost got there too late to see this piece of art. Luke kept telling me to come look at his fish, I kept saying, 'ya, hold on'. He was beginning to erase it when I finally took the time to look. I'm glad I didn't miss it.

Jenkins Family Reunion

Our reunion was in Logan this year with my Dad's whole family. We visited the American Heritage Center and the Willow Park Zoo. The kids had a great time with all the animals, and Luke really wants to go back to the Farm and ride a pony.

All the goats rushed to Abigail at once, she was not happy!

Luke got really tired, so Abigail gave up her seat for him.

July 4th evening festivities

After a long nap, we went to the Dawson's for a BBQ and fireworks. They have the coolest stream out behind their house with ducks and turtles. As soon as the kids go out the gate and make an appearance at the stream the ducks come running for their food.

Grandma Sharla with her cute grandkids.

After a short traumatic experience with Luke shooting his eye, the fireworks resumed and the boys had a blast.

When I thought the boys had gotten their fill of fun, Luke remembered roasting marshmallows. So we did that and watched more fireworks. The kids had such a great day, and they were ready for their beds on the way home.

July 4th morning festivities

July 4th really is my favorite holiday!
We do the same thing every year, and to me it never gets old. In the morning the whole Jenkins family gets back together to watch the parade from my parent's house and then we have breakfast together.

Luke rode in the parade with Mayor Jenkins.
My Mom and the kids with their new little cousin, Adam. My sister, Jess, had him on June 25th. He's such a sweet little guy.

we went up to the square after breakfast... we stayed just long enough for Luke to play a game and get his face painted. It was too hot!

July 3rd festivities

We went up to the square, the park in Plain City, and had dinner with all the Jenkins family. Luke was obsessed with all the babies, he kept asking to hold them all. My cousin Irene was gracious enough to let Luke hold little Olivia.
Abigail just hung out around the strollers. She likes everything about strollers, sitting in them, doing up the buckles, and all the little compartments.

After dinner and then dessert at my Aunt Becky's we headed to my parent's for fireworks and a sleepover. Luke, uncle Blake, and I slept out on the trampoline (everybody else slept inside... pansies) Luke started lovin the idea only after he realized I was not leaving him on the trampoline by himself.
